Shi Heping, alias Li Heng, with Wistaria Thatched Cottage being the name of his study, was born in Shanghai in 1956 with ancestral origin of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China.
Master Shi has been addicted to the traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy since childhood. He was graduated after the age of 30 from the Shanghai Hongkou District Sparetime University, majoring in traditional Chinese calligraphy & seal carving under the instruction of such prominent masters as Zhou Jianbai, Han Tianheng and Zhou Zhigao. He regards it as a life span pleasure to have long been immersed in calligraphy and seal carving, and devoted himself fully to teaching calligraphy.
His works were listed in the Second National Calligraphy & Seal Carving Exposition, Sino-Japanese Painting & Calligraphy Expo, Seal Carving Expo organized by Xiling Seal Engravers' Society, and Shanghai Calligraphy Expo '99. His calligraphy was also inscribed on the Forest of Steles known as "China Screen-like Rock". He has held twice personal exhibition of his art works and went to Japan for cultural exchange of artistry.
